Best Albums of the Decade!

It’s hard to believe we’ve been living in the “new” millenium for close to a decade. In 2000 I was a junior at Antioch High School. This decade saw me graduate high school, go to college, pursue my dream of being a musician, marry my high school sweetheart, and now as it nears completion- playing numerous instruments in a folk rock band and work towards a masters in library science. Through it all there has been some great music! There were so many amazing albums that I wasn’t able to include, but I find that this list displays the albums that really defined me during the last ten years. The nice thing about not being a music critic is that I can throw objectivity out the window and list albums that have deep sentimental value right alongside albums that could make the list on technical merit alone. I was going to write a blurb for each one, but I think I’ll save my thoughts for discussions in the comments area. Let me know what you think! And yes, I did put these in an intentional order:

25. Speakerboxxx/The Love Below- Outkast (2003)

24. Why Should The Fire Die- Nickel Creek (2005)

23. Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven- Godspeed You Black Emperor (2000)

Albums I can’t believe didn’t make the list!

Wincing The Night Away- The Shins (2007)
Catch For Us The Foxes- mewithoutyou (2004)

One observation: According to the list, the years 2000 and 2005 were very influential musically for me.
